Q. Is the fireball planetarium opened to the general public?
A. No, not on a regular basis.  The fireball planetarium is mostly used for day visits reserved by schools and other community groups.  We do occasionally have the fireball planetarium setup for general public.  Check back to see the next special event.

Q. Do you travel outside of St. John's?
A.  Yes.  For traveling requiring an overnight stay, priority is given to schools, groups, reserving two or more consecutive days.  This may be at the same school, within the same district, or with a neighboring district.  Travel during the months of November to February is subject to approval.

Q. For what age group is the fireball planetarium appropriate?
A.  All ages, from pre- kindergarten through adult. Shows are performed live so they can be tailored to suit the particular needs of a specific audience.  Our shows include a tour of the current night sky, but will also incorporate other topics such as solar system and mythology of the area. We are happy to present any topic you may suggest.

Q. What programming is available?

Q. Can we change the type of programming for each group?
A. Yes, but need to know in advance.

Q. How many  students/groups can visit the fireball planetarium and one day?
A. You can schedule up  to five sessions within one day, with up to 30 students per session

Q. How long are the fireball planetarium presentations?
A. Your group can determine the length of the presentations depending on what best fits your schedule.  The recommended length is 30 to 40 minutes.  You may schedule programs of different lengths within the same day.

Q. Can a fireball planetarium stay at school for an afternoon or even the evening event?
A. Yes.  Any programming beyond the school day is extra. Please email for price and staff availability.

Q. Can I schedule, the fireball planetarium for an evening or weekend event?
A. Yes.  Please e-mail for price.

Q. Who is responsible for setting up and taking down the Dome, and giving presentations?
A. A fireball planetarium staff member gives the presentations and does the Dome set up and take down.

Q. Where should we set up the Dome?
A. Minimum dimensions must be 25' x 25' with a 12 foot ceiling.  Please measure the height of the ceiling if it might be close?  A gym, auditorium, or cafeteria is a good place for the Dome.  Set up should be in a quiet place, with no other activities in the same room.

Q. Can the Dome be set up outside?
A.  No.  The Dome and projection equipment are not weatherproof.
